This 1966 mustang(289 V8, auto, PS, PB with AC)was found in a garage at a retirement community in California where it sat for 14 years before being purchased from the original owner in 2004. The car had a series of “upgrades”(4barrel, dual exhaust, electronic ignition, dual master cylinder, new brakes, shocks, rear springs and a tech school repaint) done before I purchased it for my wife with 79,197 miles on it in 2005. Since then life happened, as well as 8 children, and now the car only has 80,920+ miles on it. ALL the steel is in excellent condition and original to the car from ‘66 and has never been wrecked. . I first saw the car at the tech school when it was stripped of it’s original paint and I was blown away. It has only seen water once since we have owned it. Rather than letting the car take up space in our garage for another decade or so, and much to the chagrin of our teenage daughter, we are releasing it to someone else to preserve this time capsule. The car runs and drives well. The AC has leaked out over time(it worked well in 2005). My local tech says the timing chain has play in it and I have noticed the PS leaving a mark in my floor. The car needs the TLC which I cannot give it at this time. ALL I can say about this car is SOLID, SOLID, SOLID!!! Why buy a rusted car and put $10K into metal work before you can enjoy it when you can buy a true California survivor. If you are mechanically inclined, this is a GREAT winter project. Purchase and enjoy!
